How do we clean your Carpets?
Professional use different carpet cleaning methods depending on cost, degree of soiling, environmental conditions and fiber type. Check out the most commonly used professional cleaning methods, and which you may need to bring back life to your carpet.
1. Steam cleaning – Promotions
Steam cleaning or hot water extraction is a common method of cleaning carpets where hot water is sprayed under pressure into the carpet. The hot water loosens dirt as the carpet-cleaning equipment vacuums moisture and dislodged dirt. If the carpet is heavily soiled, detergent is added. Water temperatures may range from cold tap water to boiling hot water and even super-heated water over 200 degrees depending on the cleaning equipment.
Steam cleaning is effective in removing odors, and killing bacteria and dust mites. This deep cleaning is used in all carpet fiber and provides the most effective way for cleaning carpet and rugs. However, steam can damage man-made carpet fibre like wool.
2. Carpet shampooing
This old method applies foamy chemical on the carpet pile that is scrubbed with a motorized circular brush. The carpet must be thoroughly vacuumed to remove soil and residue. Shampoos are very poor detergents and simply bury the dirt making the carpet appear cleaner and brighter than it really is. This method requires more drying time and to be double rinsed.
3. Carpet dry cleaning – Promotions
This method sprinkles a small amount of an absorbent compound over the carpet and uses a mechanized brush to dissolve soil. The soil and residue are then drawn up by a vacuum cleaner. It dries the carpet more quickly than any other cleaning method and is good for easily damaged natural-fiber carpets like sisal.
It is suitable for heavily soiled carpet and must be thoroughly vacuumed before and after cleaning to remove the compound. It doesn’t require any drying time since no water is used, is faster and less labour intensive.
4. Bonnet cleaning
Bonnet cleaning uses a cleaning product that is mixed with carbonated water on the carpet and a round absorbent buffer or “bonnet” to scrub the soiled area in a rotating motion. The carpet is sprayed or soaked in the cleaning solution and squeezed lightly before placing under the bonnet. It has very limited capability to remove all residues and leaves much of the cleaning solution that can discolour the carpet. The spinning bonnet may distort or damage the fibers of pile carpet and leaving swirl marks. It requires significant drying time. Bonnets get filled with soil, which it can simply moves from one area to another.
